Clinical Experience
Consultant Surgeon Emeritus at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Sheffield, past Council Member and Senior Vice President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and past Dean of the Academy, International Society of Surgery. He has been a Member of International Board of Directors for Gastrointestinal Workshop, Davos, Series Editor and Chairman of the Editorial Board of the journal ‘SURGERY’ and referee for the British Journal of Surgery and edited the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He has a busy medico-legal practice with currently over 200 new referrals a year. I have provided over 2500 medico-legal reports with the occasional court attendance. I have attended several medico-legal conferences and undergone training in ‘single joint witness’. My current work load is approximately 5% Single Joint Witness, 45% Claimant and 50% Defendant.

Experience
Major clinical referral practice in general surgery and hernia repair with a tertiary referral practice in hepatobiliary-pancreatic surgery and endocrine surgery. Author of 14 books and over 200 published papers in peer reviewed journals. Over 120 personal presentations both nationally and internationally, including guest lectures and visiting professorships. Responsible for delivery of Surgical Skills Courses throughout the UK and in Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Holland, Sweden, Portugal, Australia, Laos, Switzerland, Borneo, Zambia, Tanzania, Barbados and Trinidad.
